La Barroneña Ranch comes by exceptional Whitetail Deer naturally. There have never been introduced genetics or “bought deer” placed on the Ranch. It has been the Musgrave’s thought that while deer breeding has been lucrative for some, it was not what they wanted for La Barroneña. The deer herd is managed by intensive culling of less desirable antler producers, and by letting the best of the herd age and breed. Trophy bucks cannot be harvested until they are at least 6 years old. Most importantly, the Ranch allows very few Trophy deer to be harvested, most die of natural causes on the Ranch.
